The construction work of Nagar Health Center has began amid much enthusiasm among the town dwellers.
Lawmaker Shah Sarwar Kabir inaugurated the work in Sabuzpara area of the town here on Thursday through unveiling a plaque as the chief guest and offered a munajat wishing welfare of the center.
Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) would implement the work at a cost of Taka 4.70 crore while Asian Development Bank (ADB) would provide the fund.
Sarwar Kabir said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had given emphasis on the health sector of the country in a bid to reach the health services to the doorsteps of the people to build a healthy nation.
Accordingly, the health center is being constructed in the area on priority basis, he added.
He also asked the contractors to finish the work of the center timely and appropriately and urged the physicians to provide healthcare services to the people without any criticism.
Executive Engineer of the LGED Sabiul Islam, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmud Al-Hasan and town elite were present on the occasion.
In reply to a query the LGED Executive Engineer said the work is expected to be finished by December next.
The town dwellers are happy and expressed their satisfaction over starting the work of the center in the area as they would get desired health services from it, said Masuma Akhter, a dweller of the town.
