Community Policing Day observed across country

Community Policing Day was celebrated across the country on Saturday with the slogan “Mujib Year's promise community police above all.”

In Rajshahi, the was observed with various programmes, reports our Regional Correspondent, Rajshahi 

The functions of Community Policing Day was inaugurated by releasing balloons and the pigeons in front of the portrait (bust) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Rajshahi College campus. Later, a discussion was held at the auditorium of Rajshahi College. 

Presided over by Abukalam Siddique, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, the meeting was attended and addressed, among others, by AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation as the chief guest. 

Organised by RMP Community Policing Forum, the function was attended by Principal of Rajshahi College Habibur Rahman, reserved seat MP Adiba Anjum Meeta, President of District AL Meraj Uddin Mollah and General Secretary of Rajshahi city AL Doublew Sarker,

In Chattogram, the District Police has celebrated the day with various programmes. Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chattogram SM Rashidul Haque was present as the chief guest at a discussion on the day, reports out Staff Correspondent, Ctg. 

Additional Superintendent of Police Afruzul Haque Tutul presided over the function where Community policing presidents and general secretaries in 14 upazilas of Chittagong district were present.

SM Rashidul Haque in his speech said Bangladesh Police is now the police of the people. The common people are now getting closer to the police. The police are playing a bigger role in solving any local problem. Police services are now so readily available that the police have been able to deliver services to the doorsteps of the common people, he added. 

In Barguna, the day was celebrated in the district with the slogan "Mujib Year's promise community police everywhere”. On this occasion, a discussion meeting was held at Barguna police lines in the morning, reports our Barguna Correspondent 

Barguna Superintendent of Police Maruf Hossain presided over the discussion meeting, while MP from Barguna-2 constituency Shawkat Hasanur Rahman Rimon was present as the chief guest.

Barguna Additional Deputy Commissioner Ashraful Islam, District Awami League General Secretary Jahangir Kabir, President of Community Policing Forum Abdul Motaleb Mridha, Press Ckub President Adv. Sanjib kumar das, UP chairmen and other eminent personalities were present at the time.

Speakers at the time urged everyone to come forward to help community police in performing their duties properly.     

In Satkhira, a colorful rally and discussion was held in Satkhira on the occasion of Community Policing Day, reports Satkhira Correspondent. 

Police Super Mohammad Mohastafizur Rahman presided over the programme, while Dr. Abul Kalam Babla, President of District Community Policing Forum, Dr. Monowar Hossain, Member Secretary, Additional District Magistrate Tanjillur Rahman and others were present. 

Satkhira district Awami League leaders, all police officers and members and people of all walks of life were present at the rally and discussion.

In Bagerhat, on the occasion of the day, a discussion meeting was organized at Bagerhat Swadhinata Udyan on Saturday afternoon, reports our Bagerhat Correspondent. 

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Begerhat Md Mamunur Rashid was present as the chief guest at the discussion chaired by Bagerhat District Superintendent of Police Pankaj Chandra Roy. Bagerhat Civil Surgeon D KM Humayun Kabir, Additional Superintendent of Police Mir Shafin Mahmud, Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Sardar Nasir Uddin, Bagerhat District Community Policing Coordination Committee  President Advocate Mozaffar Hossain, General Secretary Advocate Shah Alam Tuku and others were present. 

After the discussion, Mongla police sub-inspector Jahangir Alam and Mollahat upazila community policing coordination committee president Shahid Mahfuz Rahman were honored for their contribution to community policing in Bagerhat.

In Kishoreganj, a discussion was held at Kishoreganj Police Lines marking the Community Policing Day, reports our Kishoreganj Correspondent

Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahman presided over the discussion. It was addressed among others by Zila Parished Chairman Md. Zillur Rahman, District Awami League General Secretary Advocate M.A Afzol, Kishoreganj Municipality Mayor Md. Parvez Miah, Government Pleader Bijoy Shankor Roy, Public Procecutor Shah Azizul Hoque, Community Policing Forum General Secretary Saiful Hoque Mollah Dulu spoke on the occassion. Later Creast and Certificate were distributed for good activities.
