The Communist Party of China (CPC), which is the sole governing political party in Beijing since 1949, will celebrate its 100th anniversary of the founding today, Thursday, with festivity.
The curtain of the celebration was unveiled on Monday with an epic show of fireworks rocketing into the sky, displaying the number 100 over the National Stadium in Beijing. An art performance was also held in Beijing.
President Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee on Tuesday also conferred the July 1 Medal, the Party's highest honor, on model CPC members for the first time, according to the Xinhua news agency.
Over the past 100 years, the Party "has written a splendid chapter in the history of the Chinese nation's development and that of humanity's progress," said Xi, also chairman of the Central Military Commission.
A total of 29 CPC members who have made "outstanding contributions to the Party and the people" received the honor, some posthumously, according to Xinhua.
Xi said over the past 100 years, generations of CPC members have worked hard and made selfless contributions in the pursuit of national independence and the liberation of the people, as well as in striving for a prosperous and strong country and the people's well-being.
Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Li Jiming recently said that "friendship and cooperation have been the main theme of China-Bangladesh relations".
"In the face of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, China and Bangladesh have supported and helped each other in times of difficulty and conducted effective cooperation. China has recently donated 1.1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines as gifts to Bangladesh and the first batch of commercially purchased vaccines will arrive soon," he said, adding that China pursues an independent foreign policy of peace, as well as a national defense policy that is defensive in nature.
"Under the overall foreign policy, China is committed to deepen and expand its diplomatic work in a comprehensive, multilevel, wide-ranging, multifaceted way to build a global network of partnerships, and fully advanced its friendly relations with other countries, with neighboring countries and major countries being the keys of this pursuit, other developing countries serving as its foundation, and multilateral settings as its platform," said the ambassador.
