Commerce Ministry steps up market monitoring

In a bid to stabilise daily commodity prices and ensure market integrity, two monitoring teams from the Ministry of Commerce conducted drive at New Market Kacha Bazar and Gulshan Kacha Bazar in Dhaka on Sunday.

Led by Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Mehedi Hasan, the team scrutinised prices and transaction receipts for essentials like rice, dal, eggs, and chicken. 

A chicken trader faced a fine of Tk 2,000 for failing to display the price list correctly, alongside warnings for inadequate record-keeping.

In Gulshan Kachar Bazar, Deputy Secretary Mansurin Khan Chowdhury oversaws an another drive that resulted in fines total of Tk 27,000 for six traders due to various offense. 

The drive involved officials from multiple departments, underscoring the Ministry's commitment to maintaining market order.
