As part of the ongoing movement led by the Comilla University Teachers' Association, an effigy representing Vice-Chancellor Professor A F M Abdul Moyeen has been hung on a campus dustbin.

This symbolic gesture demanding resignation was observed near the university's main gate and Round Square on Friday.

The effigy portrays the vice-chancellor's image atop a statue, adorned with a horn on its head and two outstretched arms. A banner draped across the chest depicts the VC allegedly striking a teacher from the archaeology department with his elbow.

Additionally, banners displaying images of resignation letters from teachers who stepped down due to various allegations of irregularities, corruption, and mismanagement by the VC were also hung.

For the past five days, university teachers have been staging a sit-in protest in front of the administration building, reiterating their demand for the vice-chancellor's resignation.

Jannatul Ferdous, the literature, culture, and sports secretary of the teachers' association, criticised the vice-chancellor, accusing him of causing harm to both faculty and students since assuming office. Ferdous labelled the VC as a detrimental influence, emphasising his perceived lack of transparency and truthfulness.

Mehdi Hasan, the general secretary of the teachers' association, highlighted various grievances faced by faculty members, including a violent attack on teachers by unidentified individuals on April 28. Hasan criticised the lack of action following the incident and denounced the vice-chancellor's absence from campus events, including the recent batch admission test ceremony. Despite attempts to reach Vice-Chancellor Abdul Moin for comment on the matter, he remained unavailable.

The attack on university teachers on April 28 allegedly involved Vice-Chancellor Professor A F M Abdul Moyeen, Treasurer Professor Dr Md Ashaduzzaman, Proctor (Acting) Dr Kazi Omar Siddiqi, Assistant Proctor Amit Dutt, and several external students.
