The admission process for Class 11 for the academic year 2024-25 has been extended. This change is due to the ongoing quota reform movement in the country. The admissions will now start again on July 28 and will continue until August 1.
This information was announced in an emergency notification by Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, the President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, on Wednesday, July 24.
According to the notice, the admission process for students selected online for Class 11 was paused due to unavoidable reasons. The new admission period for schools and colleges across the country is now set from July 28 to August 1.
The notice also mentioned that classes for the new Class 11 students will begin on Tuesday, August 6. Initially, the admission process for Class 11 started on July 15 and was supposed to end on July 25. However, due to the closure of educational institutions from July 18, the admission process was halted.
This year, 1,672,153 students passed the SSC and equivalent exams from 11 education boards. About 1,000 more students passed after re-checking their results. There are about 2.5 million seats available for Class 11 admissions across the country. Even if all students are admitted, around 800,000 seats will still remain vacant.
The online application for Class 11 admissions was supposed to start on May 26 at 10 am. However, a server error delayed the start by a day. In the first phase, students could apply until June 13, and the results were announced on June 23. The second phase of applications was from June 30 to July 2, and the third phase was from July 9 to July 10.
