Coast Guard recovers about 2.5 lakh Yaba tablets

Members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) Station at Teknaf in Cox's Bazar conducted a search operation in the Habirchhara area of Marine Drive Road and recovered 245,000 pieces of yaba tablets.

This information was given by Lt. Commander Amirul Haque, Media Officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard Headquarters on Friday noon.

The official said, a special team of Coast Guard members led by Teknaf Station Commander Lt. Gen. Naeem ul Haq conducted a special operation in the area this morning on the basis of secret information. 

During the operation, some people were seen carrying bags on their shoulders in the area. When, their movements seemed suspicious, the Coast Guard instructed them to stop with torch lights and flutes. Sensing the presence of the Coast Guard members, they dropped their bags and fled into the ‘Jhau’ Forest next door.

Subsequently, 245,000 Yaba tablets were seized from the bag. The seized yaba has been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action, he said.

He further said that regular operations are being carried out in the areas under the purview of Bangladesh Coast Guard to maintain law and order, public safety as well as prevention of piracy, robbery and drug control by adopting zero tolerance policy of the Coast Guard.
