Coast Guard detains two drug peddlers

Members of coast guard in a special drive detained two drug peddlers and seized 14 kg of hemp from a passenger trawler in Meghna River on Sunday.

Coast Guard Headquarters Media Officer Lt. Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi informed the matter. 

He said acting on a tip off, a team of Coast Guard Chandpur Station conducted a special drive in the river Meghna around 10:30 am. During the raid, the challenged Alu Bazar- bound Ekota Paribahan passenger trawler in Dakatia River estuary as the suspicious movement two passengers of the trawler. Searching their bags, 14 kg of hemp was seized. 

Mohammad Shahadat Sheikh, 38 and Wahidul Sheikh, 29, were detained in this connection.

They are the sons of Mosharraf Sheikh and Ratan Sheikh, hailed from Dignagar Chandrakhola Village and Kanoria Village under Moksudpur thana of Gopalganj District.
