Bangladesh Coast Guard members detained eight robbers with arms and ammunition while preparing for robbery in Bay of Bengal on Tuesday midnight.
On the basis of secret information, a special operation was carried out and 8 armed robbers were detained by BCG members in the Bay of Bengal in Chattogram.
Two single-barreled guns, a domestic pistol and six rounds of ammunition and a boat used by the robbers were seized at the time from the detainees.
The detained robbers are identified as Md. Ali, 26, son of Mojibur Rahman, Md. Mizan, 18, son of Md. Abdur Shukur, Md. Khokon, 18, son of Monir Ahmed, Md. Belal, 20, son of Saleh Ahmed, Md. Tarek, 18, son of Md. Abdu Rahim, Jabed Hossain, 32, son of Abdus Sattar, Hasib Hossain, 21, son of Md. Ismail and Md. Shahed, 20, son of Md. Dudu Mia.
The detained robbers are all residents of Khurdd Gahira village under Anwara police station of Chattogram. The detainees, weapons and ammunition were handed over to Patenga Model Police Station.
In addition to maintaining law and order and public safety in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, the Coast Guard will continue its operations to curb piracy and robbery as well.
