All government and non-government organizations should cooperate in order to facilitate the path of higher education for the indigent and backward meritorious students. Indomitable talents need united cooperation in financial support. Then the rate of education in the country will increase and the tendency of students to drop out will be stopped.
This was stated by the guests at a conference organized by the Coast Foundation at a conference hall of a residential hotel in Cox's Bazar last night. Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Kaysarul Haque Jewel was the chief guest at the function presided over by local government expert Dr Tofail Ahmed.
Welcoming the initiative to provide scholarships, he said that this grand initiative of the government as well as the Coast would play a major role in the development of education in Cox's Bazar.
Other organizations should be involved in this initiative to accelerate this development. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Executive Director of Coast, said in his welcome speech at the beginning of the program that Coast is working on education, health and human development from the dividends of its micro-credit. We are trying in various ways including regular collaboration with some educational institutions without MPO registration. Adequate amount of science labs, paratroopers, teacher training and other co-operation are required to further develop the education sector in the region. For social development, educated people should be formed along with prevention of child marriage, bad culture etc.
He said the Coast Foundation has provided grants of Tk 1.45 million to 94 indigent and meritorious students in six regions across the country. We are the first to extend a helping hand on the Rohingya issue. Yet the humanitarian program continues.
Special guests were Cox's Bazar Municipality Panel Mayor Shahena Akhter Pakhi, Coast Trustee Board Treasurer Mostafa Kamal Ahmed (FCA), Coast Trustee Board Vice Chairman Gowher Naeem Wara, Cox's Bazar Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal's APP Advocate-Kuch. Senior teacher of the school Rita Bala Dey, Ujhia upazila president of Sujan, journalist Nur Mohammad Sikder. A total of 1 lakh 70 thousand checks were distributed to 15 indomitable meritorious students of 9 upazilas of Cox's Bazar district on the occasion.
