Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy on Sunday promoted to the post of Additional Inspector General of Police (Additional IGP), the second highest rank of Bangladesh Police.
This promotion was given in an order signed by Md. Mahabub Rahman Sheikh, Deputy Secretary of the Home Ministry.
On June 30, 2022, Krishna Pada Roy was posted as Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
Krishna Pada Roy, son of Gopal Chandra Roy and Rama Rani Roy, hailing from Halitala Village in Sadar Union of Nabiganj Upazila, obtained Honours and Masters degrees in Mass Communication and Journalism from Dhaka University.
He also served as a staff reporter for the national English Daily Star in Dhaka before joining in government job. He joined in Bangladesh Police through 15th BCS examination. His career started in Bogra.
He served as Superintendent of Police of Sherpur and Chandpur districts. He also served as Assistant Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP). Earlier Krishna Pada Roy served as Deputy Commissioner of Ramna Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch.
Later, Krishna Pada Roy served as Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) of DMP. He also held the post of Additional Commissioner of Police Crime and Operations in the rank of DIG.
On November 7 last year, he got the full charge of Additional Police Commissioner of DMP.
