Shahjalal University of Science and Technology(SUST) authority conducted a cleaning awareness drive on the campus on Tuesday.
The cleaning staff of the estate department said that this operation is being carried out to prevent dengue mosquitoes and germs in the campus. In addition, medicine is being sprayed by fogger machine in places where mosquito infestation may increase.
It was seen that the teachers and students of the university were cleaning the plastic packets, polythene, growing grass and weeds and mosquito infestation in the area. The same work can be seen around the five residential halls of the campus. The provosts are taking care of the internal cleanliness of the hall including the weeds growing on the sides of the hall, the snakes can enter without the branches of the trees attached to the windows. Apart from this, sulfuric acid is being sprinkled in various drains and appropriate places to prevent snake infestation in residential halls.n MasudRana, a third-year student of the public administration department of the university, said that dengue may increase in the campus. So now it is necessary to carry out cleanliness drive in the campus. Software engineering student Sabbir Hossain said that the fear of dengue has increased in the country. Cleaning the campus on a regular basis can reduce the threat of dengue.
Mohammad Moniruzzaman Khan Sohag, Provost of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall of the University said, cleaning around the hall is one of the regular tasks. Now the mosquito infestation can increase so cleaning operations are conducted every week.
The director of the university's estate department, Professor Dr. Md. Rumel Ahmad said, water accumulates in different parts of the campus during the rainy season, and there is a possibility of increasing mosquito infestation. We are cleaning these places regularly. I am also spraying mosquito repellent. We are trying our best to prevent germs as much as possible.
University Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed said that regular cleaning activities are conducted in the campus. We are also working on de-watering. To prevent mosquito infestation, the residence hall and estate department have been asked to keep the campus clean at all times.
