Political leaders, elected representatives, professionals, social workers and civic leaders of Khulna raised their voices for a clean and green Khulna city.
They took part in a sit-in-programme in Khulna on Monday in favour of their demand. The programme was held under the banner ‘Greater Khulna Development Action Coordination Committee (GKDSCC).
President of GKDSCC Sheikh Ashraf Uz Zaman presided over the programme, while its secretary general Sheikh Mohammad Ali conducted it. Panel mayors and councilors including KCC Panel Mayor Md. Aminul Islam Munna, Panel Mayor Ali Akbar Tipu, Councilor Sheikh Hafizur Rahman Hafeez, Former Acting Mayor Councilor Md. Anisur Rahman Biswas, Councilor Ashfaqur Rahman Kakon, Councilor Abul Kalam Azad Biku Kazi spoke on the occasion, among others.
The speakers demanded of the authorities concerned to stop construction of unplanned housing projects, non-regulatory multi-storied buildings, action against irregularities, delays and corruption in implementation of the stopped projects.
They also demanded resume of the work of Rupsha Bypass Shipyard Road, Nirala Road, Gallamari to Rayermahal, Aranghata to Rayermahal as soon as early, and appointment of a local representative as KDA chairman along with investigating the corruption and irregularities of the departing Chairman Abul Nimim.
