The teachers of a school have been teaching students under open sky on the school premises for couple of weeks as the school collapsed by a storm at Bagha upazila in Rajshahi.
On March 29, a storm had blown away through the Choumadiya village under the Chakrajapur union of the upazila destroying house of Choumadiya Government Primary School.
The school established in 1955. Since then, the schoolhouse was damaged in several times and later re-constructed with the help of locals.
During visiting the school, it was seen that the students are taking part in their classes under open sky in the school premises.
Soleyman Ali, a guardian, said that after collapse the schoolhouse, they are being so much worried as children are attending in regular classes that held under open sky on the school premises.
While asking Shohel Rana, the head teacher of the school, said that there is no other way so we are taking classes and examinations under open sky regularly after destroying the schoolhouse on April 23. A written statement has been already placed to the upazila nirbahi officer asking a positive favour to re-construct the schoolhouse, he said.
Abdur Rahman, 2 no. ward member of Chakrajapur union said, the school had collapsed after hit by storm because it is situated near the Padma River. Besides, the schoolhouse collapsed repeatedly and re-constructed later with the association of locals.
But, now the schoolhouse had collapsed entirely, he said adding that the government’s donation is not sufficient for re-construction of it.
Upazila nirbahi officer Shahin Reza said that a government donation already has been provided to the school authority to re-construct the schoolhouse.
