Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique has taken the initiative to finish the trial of pending cases at the earliest possible time.

For this reason, on January 27, eight judges of the High Court Division were given the responsibilities of monitoring pending cases in eight divisions across the country.

After formation of the monitoring committee, the judges-in-charge visited various courts and talked with the judges of the respective districts.

Mohammad Saifur Rahman, registrar of the Appellate Division and Spokesperson of the Supreme Court, said, "Recently, the Chief Justice has taken the initiative to quickly dispose of pending cases of two decades and more. The number of benches in the High Court has  increased. Necessary initiatives also have been taken in the disposal of those cases."

The Chief Justice also directed to determine the actual number of pending cases in every civil and criminal court and tribunal in the country, Rahman added.

The directives in this regard were sent from the Supreme Court administration to the concerned district courts. Judges of subordinate courts have been asked to send reports to the High Court to identify the cases dating back more than two decades.

The 23rd Chief Justice of the country Hasan Foez Siddique took the initiative to reduce the sufferings of the people immediately after taking oath on December 31.

In a circular issued on March 14 this year, a seven-point instruction was given to the judges of the subordinate courts. The trial process of the subordinate court has increased.
