Disruption in gas supply in Chattogram region on Saturday. Reserve gas was available from the morning but it was completely stopped on Sunday. Chattogram CNG station has been closed due to gas shortage. Besides, gas supply has been stopped in industrial establishments.

Daily gas demand in Chattogram is about 325 million cubic feet. 270 to 300 million cubic feet are available from the Maheshkhali LNG terminal. Apart from cylinder gas, many people use electric, kerosene and wood stoves as alternatives.
At the consumer level, the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) per 12 kg cylinder is Tk 1,178, but in the current gas crisis, dishonest traders are demanding Tk 2000.
Long queues of customers for food were seen at various hotels and restaurants in the city on Sunday. After waiting for a long time, the food does not arrive. Many are ordering restaurant or homemade food through Pathao, Sahaj Food, Food Pack and Food panda apps.
500 restaurants have been built in last 10 years in Chittagong. Besides, there are about 400 hotels and restaurants. According to Bangladesh Restaurant Owners Association Chattogram Metropolis, there are 261 food hotel-restaurants listed by this organization in the city. Apart from this there are 150 more restaurants.
According to Chattogram district administration sources, 264 restaurants have been licensed in the city and various upazilas, most of them are in the Chattogram metropolitan area. Managing Director (MD) of KGDCL Engineer Md. Rafiqul Islam said that there will be a gas crisis in Chattogram till May 19 due to gas supply being stopped from two floating LNG terminals in Maheshkhali. At present gas is being supplied from reserves. Reserves typically contain 80 to 85 million cubic feet of gas.
