The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police has launched a probe to know whether any money was laundered in the killing of Sonagazi madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, reports BSS. “The Organised Crime Unit of CID has already started work to know whether any money was exchanged in the killing of Nusrat or not.
If yes, CID will identify those involved in the exchange of money,” additional (special) police superintendent of CID Sharmin Jahan told the state news agency. There was an allegation that money was exchanged in killing Nusrat, she said, adding that if there was any exchange of money, the CID would identify the sources and suppliers of the money. On April 6, Nusrat was set afire at an examination centre reportedly by the people loyal to the principal of her madrasa after he was arrested and subsequently suspended as Nusrat accused him of harassing her sexually in Sonagazi upazila of Feni.
Nusrat lost her battle for life on April 10 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital.
