Chittagong Zila Parishad handed over blankets to its members for distribution among the cold-hit and helpless people of the district.
Chittagong Zila Parishad Chairman ATM Pearul Islam was the chief guest at the blanket handover ceremony held at Chittagong Zila Parishad office on Tuesday afternoon. Chittagong District Council Chief Executive Officer Shabbir Iqbal presided over the function.
ATM Pearul Islam said that many of us are fortunate to wear warm clothes. But there are many who are in great distress for lack of adequate clothing in the extreme cold.
He said, it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that these poor people do not suffer from this severe cold.
He called upon the society's capable, wealthy, businessmen and the members of public, to contribute to the service of humanity by donating their used or new warm clothes to the underprivileged and poor people. Chittagong Zilla Parishad Executive Officer Md Didarul Alam, Executive Engineer Mohammad Monirul Islam, Member AMM Dilshad, Pradeep Ranjan Chakraborty, Engineer Islam Ahmad, Debbrata Das, Borhan Uddin Md Emran, Abu Ahmad Chowdhury Junu, HM Ali Abraha Dulal, Erfanul Karim Chowdhury, Nurul Mustafa Sikder Sangram, Farhana Afrin Jinia, Suraiya Begum, Roshan Ara Ratna, Shahidul Islam Pintu, Raisul Islam Chowdhury Emil, Imran Muhuri were present on the occasion.
