Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord signed

In order to introduce peace and end bloody conflicts in the three hill districts, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her first tenure signed CHT Peace Accord on December 2, 1997 with Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) chief Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma (Shantu Larma).

After facing lot of challenges to implement the Political Accord, the present government implemented fully 48 sections of the Peace Accord out of 72. Rest 15 sections of the Peace Accord are partially implemented and other 09 sections are under process of implementation. The Peace Accord was signed after following the constitution of Bangladesh, rules, regulations and laws of the country in befitting manner. The Government is working sincerely to implement the partially-implemented and unimplemented sections of the Peace Accord. By signing the Peace Accord, the government took the responsibility to develop of infrastructure and communication arrangement in CHT and thereby uplift the standard of socio-economic development of the general mass of CHT. 

The CHT Peace Accord was signed after the series of dialogue between the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and CHT Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS).

This Peace Accord is divided into 4 Parts. 4 sections in Part ‘A’, 35 sections in Part ‘B’, 14 sections in Part ’C’, 19 sections in Part ‘D’ i.e all together 72 sections. Out of these 1,2,3,4 of Part A; 1,2,3,5,6,7,8, 10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25,28, 30, 31, 32 and 33 section of Part B; 1, 7, 8, 9,10,12,14 sections of Part ‘C’ and 1, 5, 8, 10,11,12,13,14,15,16 and 19 sections of Part ‘D’; that is all together 48 sections have been fully implemented; 4 (D), 9, 19, 24, 27, 34 section of Part ‘B’ 2, 3,4, 5, 6 sections of Part ‘C’, Section 4, 6,17,18 of Part ‘D’ that is in total 15 sections are partially implemented and 26, 29, 35 of Part ‘B’ 11 and 13 of Part ‘C’, 2, 3, 7, 9 sections of Part D that is in total 9 sections are under the process of implementation.
