A child art competition and prize distribution ceremony was held on the theme of 'Safe Road, Safe Me', highlighting the demand for safe roads through Rangtuli.

Dhaka Ahsaniya Mission Health Sector organised the painting competition at Roknuzzaman Khan Dadabhai Auditorium of Bangladesh Shishu Academy in the capital on Saturday highlighting the need for a 'Road Safety Act' to reduce road crashes in Bangladesh by half.

Director General of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Anjir Liton was present as the chief guest in the drawing competition with Kazi Shariful Alam, vice-president of Dhaka Ahsania Mission, in the chair.

Iqbal Masud, director of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Health and Wash Sector, delivered his welcome speech.  More than hundred students participated in the competition.

At that time, the guests said that the Road Transport Act-2018 is basically the ‘Motor Vehicle Act’ where the fitness of motor vehicle, license, route permit and fines for breaking the law have been prioritised. Most of the time this Act is ignorant by the road users. So even using this law is not getting the expected results. According to the SDGs, a 'Road Safety Act' is needed to halve road crashes in Bangladesh.
