Police have arrested an old man named Ahab Uddin (66) for raping a child student of a madrasa in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj.
He was arrested on Sunday from Masua village under Katiadi upazila.
Ahab Uddin was sent to jail by the court on Monday (May 16). Ahab Uddin is the son of late Nojom Uddin of Masua village in Katiadi upazila.
Katiadi Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Kazi Md. Mahfuz Hasan Siddiqui confirmed the matter and said that Ahab Uddin was arrested after the child's father lodged a complaint.
It is learned that on Saturday (May 14) night, a child student was raped on his way home from Baishakhi Mela.
Ahab Uddin talked to the father of the child student on his mobile phone and took him to his house and raped the child. At the child's screams, the people around rescued him.
After taking the child to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex for treatment on Sunday (May 15) afternoon, his condition deteriorated and he was sent to Kishoreganj 250-bed General Hospital for better treatment at night.
Katiadi Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Kazi Md. Mahfuz Hasan Siddiqui said a case has been filed under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act.
The accused has been handed over to the court after his arrest.
