Leaders of the Chhatra Odhikar Parishad on Sunday urged the Bangladesh Nationalist Party to clear its stand over Jatiya Party, an ally of the ousted Awami League.
“Whether you want to sit in Parliament with Jatiya Party, an ally of the ousted Awami League,” Chhatra Odhikar Parishad president Bin Yeamin Molla told a press conference at TSC of Dhaka University.
He said that the statement of the BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on banning political parties drew their attention.
At a commemorative programme, Mirza Fakhrul on Saturday said his party is against the ban of any political party in the country.
“You are one of the largest political parties. People want to know your clear stand whether you want to sit in Parliament with the Awami League and Jatiya Party,” he said.
Chhatra Odhikar Parishad has been demanding the ban of the AL, which has been ousted through the mass upsurge.
Terming the JP as cohort of the AL, the body has also been demanding the ban of the JP for participating in the polls through a consensus.
Yeamin Molla said that the kin of the victims are demanding trial and they do want the rise of AL and JP.
“The politics of those parties which have been involved in enforced disappearance and killing must be stopped,” he said.
Terming the AL and JP as weakest opposition parties at present, he questioned, “Whether the BNP wants to play a game by bringing those parties in the polls.”
Yeamin Molla said that the interim government failed to take any measures against the fascism structure.
Demanding the ban of fascist political parties, he said, “The government has to understand the language of the people. The mass upsurge event was not staged after going by the law. So, the government must take action beyond the law.”
