Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Freedom Fighter Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury wants to restore the beauty of Chattogram city that has faded due to cable clutter.
CCC Mayor held a meeting with the representatives of various business bodies and other organizations providing dish and internet connection at the CCC office at Tiger Pass on Thursday to decide what to do.
Meanwhile, the mayor said, “the importance of Chattogram as a commercial city at the national and international level is fading due to the mess of cables. For the sake of the beauty and safety of the city, we want to remove the cable clutter by establishing order. Dish, internet connection cable management under the supervision of city corporation will reduce accidents on electric pillars, increase the beauty of the city.”
“Traders will also benefit as wire cutting and theft will be prevented. We will hold a meeting on this issue again on January 15 after the elections taking into consideration the views received today (Thursday). Based on everyone's opinion, I want to start work on the field level to solve this problem from February 1 with everyone,” the mayor said.
In the meeting, CCC Environment Standing Committee President Councillor Shaibal Das Suman suggested the use of cable trays to remove cable clutter. Councillor Abul Hasnat Md Belal, President of the Standing Committee on Management and Maintenance, said that work is underway to build an underground cable network using the drainage system experimentally in Lalkhanbazar ward.
CCC Secretary Khaled Mahmud presided over the meeting. Mayor's private secretary Abul Hashem, assistant architect Abdullah Al Omar and related business representatives were also present in the meeting.
