Although a countrywide strict lockdown is going on and the deadly corona virus has spread out vastly in the villages and towns of Chatmohar upazila of Pabna, many people of the area are still ignoring the guidelines

Unnecessarily many locals are leaving the house and that also without wearing a face mask.

Some traders are continuing their business with the strategy of partially opening the shutters of the shops while, some others are taking the buyers inside the shop and selling the products by closing the shutter behind them.

Especially in the village markets and in the neighborhood of the municipality, more and more people are going out unnecessarily every day.

However, the scene changes entirely when a police car arrives at the spot. As if people there are playing hide and seek with the administration.

According to the Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex, the total number of infected people was 146 till last Friday, including 6 new ones. The number of patients suffering from cold, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath has increased in the area. Many are taking first aid locally without going to the hospital due to corona panic. Some are even dying with corona like symptoms in the upazila.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Omar Farooq Bulbul said, “Now is the pick season of cold related diseases. Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated in the human body due to the flu virus. Corona is also a virus but, it is not right to assume that someone has been infected with corona virus without testing first.

The flu virus gets better in three to five days without the need to apply any antibiotics.

In this situation, he advised to follow the health rules and take medicine as per the advice of the doctor without panicking when attacked with cold.

Chatmohar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saikat Islam said, “We are always trying to control the situation. We are forbidding people to leave the house unnecessarily and conducting regular patrols in the area.

We are also encouraging people to follow other health rules such as wearing a mask and maintaining social distance”.
