Change in contracting company for Jamuna bridge toll collection, maintenance

Govt saves Tk 15 crore

The contractor organization for toll collection and maintenance of Jamuna bridge, the second largest bridge of the country, has been changed. 

After calling for tenders, China Road and Bridge Corporation Company, as the lowest bidder, was given the responsibility of collecting toll and managing the bridge for five years at a saving of 20.21% over the estimated value. Its activity will start from Sunday night (12:00 am). 

On the first day of the working day, it was decided to increase the system from one Fast Track booth to 7 booths to facilitate the quick movement of vehicles.

Bangladesh Bridge Authority Director (Finance and Accounts) Altaf Hossain Shekh confirmed the matter.

The estimated cost of the bridge was Tk 74 crore 75 lakh 39 thousand 621. As the lowest bidder, the contractor company given the tender at the price of Tk 59 crore 63 lakh 96 thousand 504. This will save the government’s Tk 15 crore 11 lakh 33 thousand 117 from the estimated value. The new contractor will manage the toll collection and other activities with its own manpower.
