Like other districts of the country, Chandpur Zilla Parishad elections were completed under tight security. Voting in EVMs started from 9 am on Monday, October 17 and continued till 2 pm. Overall, this year's Chandpur Zilla Parishad election was peaceful. But the obvious concern is what happens after the polls.
It is known that a total of 50 candidates including 2 chairman, 36 general members and 12 reserved women members are contesting in Chandpur. A total of 1269 public representatives of 8 Upazilas, 89 unions and 6 municipalities exercised voting rights in the election. In the Chandpur Zilla Parishad election, Chandpur Zilla Parishad former chairman and administrator Alhaj Ochman Gani Patwari (mobile) and expatriate Zakir Hossain Pradhaniya (pineapple) are contesting for the post of chairman. And 48 candidates including 36 general members and 12 reserved women members are contesting.
In this regard, Chandpur District Election Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Mohammad Tofail Hossain said that the Election Commission is determined to provide a transparent election. If anyone creates chaos in the election, necessary action will be taken immediately subject to proof.
He also said that sufficient police, BGP and Ansar members are deployed in each centre. Besides there are Judicial Magistrates and Executive Magistrates. There are 3 CC cameras in 16 rooms in 8 Upazila Parishads, 2 each in each Upazila.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan and Police Superintendent Chandpur Sadar Upazila Center visited at 11 am. Milon Mahmud. They expressed satisfaction with the overall atmosphere of the polling station.
On the other hand, the atmosphere inside the polling stations was cool, but the atmosphere outside was very festive. Outside the centers, the supporters of the candidates can be seen chanting various slogans to attract the attention of the voters. However, the camaraderie between the two was noticeable.
