The winners of the SAFF Women’s Football Championship Bangladesh team were accorded a heroic reception and honoured with carrying them on an open-top bus to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) from Hazrat Shahzalal International Airport on Thursday.
Coach Peter Butler was a little behind of Captain Sabina Khatun, who had a Bangladesh national flag on her shoulder along with Rupana Chakma, Rituparna, Sanjidara Khatun on the open-bus when championship trophy was in front of all. Tahura Akter was continuously waving the national flag
The victorious Bangladesh women's team, led by the team’s, captain Sabina Khatun, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 2.15 pm.
After that, Coach Butler and Captain Sabina Khatun spoke to the reporters at the airport.
After completing some formalities, team left for the BFF Bhavan where supporters were eagerly waiting to receive them.
Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan met the champion team in the afternoon at BFF.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh women's football team won the title of the SAFF Championship for second time in a row after defeating the hosts Nepal 2-1 in the final was held at the Dasharat Rangashala Stadium, Kathmandu, Nepal on Wednesday.
Passinate football lovers of the country had been waiting for the for the champions girls’ coming home.
Fans were also gathered at the airport since morning to see the winners on Thursday when officials of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) were also waiting to welcome the winners.
After Bangladesh became the champion for second successive time, it was decided that the winners will be accorded warm reception after their retiring home.
Meanwhile, Sabina Khatun-Sanjida Akhtar & Co. had a heroic reception with carrying them on an open-top bus to BFF from Airport in 2022 that also Bangladesh defeated Nepal in the final when the margin was 3-1.
