Students and their parents on Sunday turned to virtual world to celebrate the success in of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations putting a stop over the fear of coronavirus outbreak for a while.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled this year’s results through videoconference from her official residence Ganabhaban in Dhaka.
This year’s pass rate is 82.87 percent with 16, 90,523 students coming out successful in the tests.
Some 13.23 lakh examinees received the SSC results through SMS within an hour of unveiling it since the authorities asked all to not come to the institution to collect the result in person due to the coronavirus outbreak.
For them, the results came as a relief in time the crisis. Parents made calls to their elders, sought blessing for their children and sent sweets to the relatives’ homes.
Many students and parents took social media platforms to let everyone know about the achievements as well congratulate others.
One of SSC examinees, Md Rayhan said unleashed his joy over the result by posting on Facebook and sought blessings.
Another student, Afroja Parvin Papia also posted her result on Facebook and expressed gratefulness to her parents, relatives and teachers at her institution.
Iqbal Rahman, whose son passed the SSC exams, told the Bangladesh Post that he is satisfied over his son’s achievement.
“As the situations don’t allow us to celebrate outside, I have spread the news of (my son’s) success to my relatives virtually.
“Now, I’m worried about their college admission,” he lamented.
Another guardian, Amena Khatun thanked the authorities for publishing the SSC result through digital tools though it was late.
“My son was so tensed. Now we are happy as well as worried about the future,” a lamented Amena told to the Bangladesh Post
The results of SSC and equivalent examinations are available on the education board website (www.educationboardresults.gov.bd) as well as the websites of all education boards.
