An average of more than 5,000 buildings are approved in Chittagong city every year.
It is legally mandatory to obtain approval from Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) to construct any structure in the city.
This approval is given by the building construction committee.
But due to senior-junior conflict, the building construction committee of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) was not meeting for the last three months.
It had a lot of files waiting for building approval.
The meeting was closed since the joining of Executive Engineer AGM Selim, who was appointed as Authorization Officer-1 last November.
The chairman of this committee was Deputy Chief Town Planner, but Abu Isa Ansari holds the post of Deputy Chief Town Planner. He is the junior of AGM Selim.
So AGM Salim was not calling the meeting as member secretary.
On January 28, the joint secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Mohammad Mizanur Rahman signed the notification to reorganize the two building construction committees of CDA.
The chief town planner will serve as the chairman of the committee. Currently Chief Engineer Kazi Hasan Bin Shams is serving as acting in this post.
The members of Building Construction Committee-1 will be Town Planner-1, Senior Architect, an Executive Engineer nominated by CDA Chairman and Authorized Officer-1 as member secretary.
On the other hand, the members of Building Construction Committee-2 are - City Planner-2, Assistant Architect, an Executive Engineer nominated by CDA Chairman and Authorized Officer-2 who will serve as Member Secretary.
Now, CDA is trying to do the best for its members . It will work accordingly the committee to meet the new of the citizens.
