Chattogram Chamber President Mahbubul Alam urged Turkish envoy to launch of Istanbul-Dhaka-Chattogram flight to increase communication in the private sector.
He hoped that Turkish entrepreneurs can take the opportunity to meet the domestic demand of Bangladesh, a country of 160 million people, as well as export to different countries of the world by setting up an industrial factory in Bangabandhu Industrial City.
He was addressing a view exchange meeting, held between Turkey-Bangladesh Business Council (TBBC) and leaders of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) at Bangabandhu Conference Hall of World Trade Center on Tuesday.
Hulya Gedi, Chairperson of TBBC led the 13-member Turkey trade delegation.

Mahbub mentioned that Turkey would participate in the next International Trade Fair in Chattogram as a partner country.
Mahbubul Alam, presided over the function while its Vice President Syed Mohammad Tanvir, Vice Chairmen of Turkey-Bangladesh Business Council Polat Ercument and Ozden Hidayet Onur, honorary councilor of TBBC, leaders of CCCI, industrialists of Chattogram, among others, addressed the function.
CCCI president Mahbubul Alam said that although Turkey-Bangladesh bilateral trade is one billion dollars and there is a lot of opportunity to increase trade and commerce in this regard.
“Bangladesh government is providing various benefits including tax holidays for foreign investment. Chattogram is emerging as an ideal place for investment through infrastructure development.
"Over 92 percent export and 75 percent import activities of the country are being conducted through Chattogram port,” he added.
He said that government is working relentlessly to ensure one stop service in Mirsarai Economic Zone. “Various countries including Japan and India are constructing special zones for investment in this industrial zone,” he added.
Hulya Gedi, Chairperson of the Turkey-Bangladesh Business Council, said that Chattogram city could play an important role not only for the economy of Bangladesh but also for the countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Referring to the historical and similar relations between Turkey and Bangladesh, he hoped that the current 1.1 billion trade between the two countries would reach the target of 2 billion.
Hulya Gedi highlighted the immense potential of Bangladesh and said that Turkey could import products from Bangladesh which it does not produce on its own company.
He said there was a great deal of interest from Turkish investors in Bangladesh's infrastructure, renewable energy, ICT, steel, engineering, education and other sectors.
He also emphasized on the development of mutual relations between the businessmen of the two countries for the development of trade and commerce and announced the awarding of scholarships to 10 students from Chattogram at Istanbul Engineering University.
