The workers of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) have successfully cleaned the entire 41 wards of port city within eight hours after slaughtering sacrificial animals on June 17, Eid day.
The CCC sources said over 4,000 workers were engaged in removing the wastes of the sacrificial animals in the city on the Eid day.
The workers started their cleanliness drive around 1 pm on the Eid day which continued till 9 pm (Eid night).
The CCC authorities have appointed several vigilance teams in 41 wards to inspect the drive and also opened a control room to conduct the operations. Councilor, secretaries and conservancy supervisors of each ward have supervised the matters in their respective wards. Besides, around 400 vehicles, including 250 trucks, 41 container movers (garbage loaders), vans and other modern equipment were on the city streets to remove the wastes, said Chief Waste Management Officer of conservancy department of CCC Latiful Hoque Kazami. Mayor of CCC Rezaul Karim Chowdhury visited different areas of the city on Eid day to watch the cleanliness drive of the CCC workers. "Though it was a hard task to clean the city within 8 hours, the workers had done the job," he added. Mayor Rezaul expressed his satisfaction over the cleanliness drive conducted by the CCC workers.
