Chattogram City Corporation has started road safety activities in the city. The Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) is partnering with the Chittagong City Corporation to make the road safer.
The activities of the two companies will continue till 2025. High speed is one of the major causes of road collisions worldwide. This activity has been given special importance to reduce road accidents. The purpose of these activities is to reduce road collisions and deaths in the city.
CCC Mayor Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the event on Thursday evening at the temporary mayor's office at Old Nagar Bhaban in Anderkilla.

CCC Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said road safety is a priority for the city. It is important to create awareness among road users and pedestrians and especially drivers of all types of vehicles with speed control to avoid collisions on the road.
He said the aim of the cooperation was to strengthen traffic law enforcement, improve road design, build safe infrastructure and monitor road accidents. BIGRS program Chief Engineer Rafiqul Islam Manik, Bloomberg Philanthropies Representative Rebecca Bevinger, CCC Acting CEO and Secretary Khaled Mahmud, Mayor's Private Secretary Muhammad Abul Hashem, Executive Engineer Shahinul Islam Chowdhury, representatives of other international partner organizations, CMP, Representatives of BRTA, Roads and Highways Department participated were present on the occasion.
