Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has launched experimental paid-parking project in Agrabad commercial area to reduce traffic congestion in the port city. CCC Mayor Freedom Fighter Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the city's first paid-parking at Hotel Agrabad on Sunday afternoon.  A total of 177 cars have been arranged for parking in front of Silver Spoon in Agrabad and on Dutch-Bangla Bank Road as a pilot project with the help of a commercial organisation called B-Track Solutions. Citizens can rent parking spaces both online and in cash through Yes Parking Apps. Mayor Rezaul said, "I am trying to bring digital solutions to solve civic problems. As part of this, pay-parking has been introduced in Agrabad to reduce traffic congestion. Using the experience of this pilot project, more pay-parking spots will be introduced in the city in the future.” Besides, hanging wires are being taken underground in three wards to remove the mess of hanging wires in the city, the mayor said.

Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Mohammad Yunus hoped that the chaos of car parking in the city would be reduced through the paid parking. Traffic congestion will be reduced if modern signal system is introduced. “The CCC mayor has taken the initiative to evict hawkers. But after eviction of the hawkers, it is seen that the road is getting occupied again. We have to work together to deal with this situation.”
