Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) is covering the English writings on the signboards of various business establishments in the city with black ink at the beginning of February.
CCC Mayor Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the activities written in Bengali everywhere at Kazir Deuri in the city on Tuesday.
CCC mayor said, “We have gained independence by fighting for Bengali language for 9 months.” But even after so many years, we could not love the language and hold it in our hearts. We have issued mass notices in newspapers to ensure the use of Bengali language everywhere. I have asked you to write the signboard in Bengali during the issue of trade license. Executive magistrates have at various times issued warnings as well. But even then many did not listen. We will request everyone to write signboard Bangla with love of language. If anyone violates the law, action will be taken according to the law.
