Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Councillor Nur Mustafa Tinu has been sent to jail in a case of kidnapping and beating filed with Panshlaish police station in Chattogram city. The court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sarkar Hasan Shahriar passed this order on Tuesday.
Nur Mostafa Tinu is the Councillor of CCC 16 Chowkbazar Ward. Even before that he was discussed due to the arrests and fights with weapons in the hands of RAB.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Prosecution Wing Inspector Mohammad Abu Taher said Tinu is the main accused in the case filed with Panshlaish Police Station. He surrendered and applied for bail on Tuesday. However, the court did not grant bail and ordered him to be sent to jail.
According to the court and case statement, on March 3, the plaintiff in the case, Mehedi Hasan Rakib, was in a pharmacy called Ekushey Drug House in front of Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital.
Within a few minutes of the conversation, some young men on 5-6 motorcycles came in front of the pharmacy. Rakib was picked up and taken to the second floor of the Chawkbazar Ward Councillor’s office in Kapasgola area. The councillor was already sitting there. Rakib was placed on a chair and surrounded by some youths and the councilor beat him up and threatened to kill him.
Rakib filed a case against councillor Nur Mustafa Tinu and 10-15 others in this incident on March 4 at the city's Panshlaish police station. The case was filed at the Panshlaish police station on charges of beating Jubo League leader and businessman Mehedi Hasan Rakib from the city's Chattogram Medical College (CMC) hospital area.
It is mentioned in the complaint of the case that on March 3, Rakib was taken from the east gate area of CMC Hospital and beaten by some people under the direction of Tinu. Total 6 names are mentioned in the case.
