CCC Book Fair begins

Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Freedom Fighter Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the Amar Ekushey Book Fair organised by Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) at Chittagong CRB Sirishtala.

 The 23-day fair will end on March 2 with the inauguration of the book fair on Friday afternoon.  In the speech of the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the fair, CCC Mayor Rezaul said, twenty-one is the source of our consciousness.  Let it be our oath that we will move forward with the spirit of Ekushey.  He said, readers should come to the fair  and bring the new generation too .  Give books to children to build a drug-free, poverty-free society.  Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy said in the speech of the special guest, our history and tradition are connected with the book fair.  We will strive for the security of the fair to make the book fair a success.

 Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said in the speech of the special guest, if any special land suitable for the book fair is found, there will be permanent allocation for various events including the book fair.

 In the speech of the special guest, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (Eastern Zone) Mohammad Nazmul Islam thanked CCC Mayor Rezaul and all concerned for organizing the fair.

CCC Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Touhidul Islam presided over the event.  At this time, Brave freedom fighter Mozaffar Ahmed, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Deputy Police Commissioner Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, Panel Mayor Gias Uddin, Afroza Kalam, CCC Education Standing Committee President Councillor Nishar Uddin Ahmed Manju, Hasan Murad Biplob, Secretary Khaled Mahmud, Mayor's Private Secretary and Chief Education Officer Muhammad Abul Hashem, Heads of Departments and Branches and CCC Deputy Secretary Asheke Rasul Tipu, Creative Publications Council President Shahabuddin Babu, General Secretary Ali Prayas were present.

 This year's 23 days Rabindra Utsav, Nazrul Utsav, Folk Utsav, Mirmi Utsav, Spring Utsab, Youth Festival, Ethnic Utsav, Children's Festival, Writers' Gathering, Youth Utsav, Women's Utsav, Chatgaon Utsav, Liberation War Utsav, Professional Gathering, Poetry Recitation and Rhymes  Festivals, short films and photo exhibitions, quiz competitions, painting and cultural competitions, felicitations, awards and literary awards.

 The covers of two books, “Gourbagathaye Sheikh Hasina'' and `”69 to 71'' were unveiled in this fair.
