Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has inaugurated cashless shop by installing modern vending machines aiming to supply essential food items and soft drinks to the residential students of the university.
University Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed inaugurated the shop on Monday afternoon at Shahparan Hall.
In a brief speech at the opening ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor said, "As part of building a modern, student-friendly and smart university, a vending machine has been inaugurated in the residential hall on Monday. From now on, students will be able to purchase food items and soft drinks at a fixed rate. The university administration has already been providing food at affordable prices in the dining hall and ensuring safe water supply. Water treatment plants have been constructed to provide safe water to the students. Besides, water treatment plants and vending machines will be installed in all residential halls in phases.’’
At that time, the Pro vice-chancellor professor Dr. Md. Kabir Hossain spoke among others. Treasurer Professor Amina Parveen, Director of Student Advice and Guidance Professor Dr. Md. RashedTalukder, Shahparan Hall Provost Professor Dr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Khan, Tax Commissioner of Tax Zone Sylhet Syed Zakir Hossain, Provost of different halls, Director of the institute, Proctor, Registrar and other teachers were present.
