Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Sunday said the misrule of the then BNP government and their election rigging had caused the caretaker government system to appear.
"High Court had said the caretaker government system not compatible with constitution. There was no mention of caretaker government system in the constitution. As it was illegal, it was repealed. The constitution was also amended to make this legal," the law minister said.
Anisul Huq said this while addressing a rally in Brahmanbaria town this noon.
"BNP now has again raised that demand. That means, we would take part in the election, but has to win in anyway," he added.
Presided over by Brahmanbaria Press Club convener Riyaj Uddin Jamir, the rally was also attended by Brahmanbaria-3 lawmaker RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, newly elected Brahmanbaria-2 lawmaker Ukil Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan, Umme Fatema Nazzma Begum, MP, Deputy Commissioner Md Shahgir Alam and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain, among others.
Earlier the law minister inaugurated the repair work of Brahmanbaria Press Club.
