Care Giving Training to create job opportunities

The Social Welfare and Development Agency (SCAS), under the National Skill Development Authority (NSDA) and the Prime Minister's Office, has successfully completed the Market Driven Care Giving training Level-II on Sunday. 

The training, Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS), was designed to increase the skills of rural youth and women in general care giving, creating employment opportunities at family, national, and international levels. Trainees learned how to provide general care services, including personal care, basic medical care, and emotional support. SKUS ensured practical, hands-on training to enhance skills and create job opportunities. 

A total of 40 trainees were trained in two batches over 72 days on General Care Giving Level-II. The final assessment, conducted by NSDA, included written, oral, and practical evaluations, ensuring full attendance. As a result, 95 percent of the participants were successful.

Kamrul Hasan, board representative and assistant attendant of NSDA, said that the first market-driven care giving training in Ukhiya by SKUS is a significant step for skill development and job creation for local women. SKUS will issue government-approved certificates to all trainees, a unique achievement for Cox's Bazar.

He also said that the job opportunities available for trainees in local and international care giving positions, including the Rohingya response, and in nursing services in hospitals and private institutions. The certification also opens doors for employment opportunities abroad. Hasan thanked SCAS for their efforts.

Jasmine Prema, Chairperson of SKUS, expressed gratitude to NSDA for conducting the independent assessment. She said that successful trainees would receive support for job opportunities in Germany in nursing and care giving. 

She also announced plans to build an old age home in Cox's Bazar for underprivileged parents, where trainees would be employed.

Prema called on all development organizations to support such training programs to build a sustainable Bangladesh. She urged trainees to be proactive in establishing their positions in society, emphasizing the need for women to be more aware and empowered.

The assessment program was attended by Ukhiya Press Club President Syed Mohammad Anwar, former President Sarwar Alam Shaheen, and former General Secretary Farooq Ahmed. Participants praised SCAS for their dedication and quality in organizing the training, underscoring the importance of such initiatives for community development.
