Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) has been officially launched for the first time in Chattogram under the supervision of Kidney Disease Department of Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital.
CMC Hospital Director Brigadier General Shamim Ahsan, Chittagong Medical College Principal Dr Sahena Akhter and doctors and nurses of kidney department visited the CAPD Chalu programme for the first time on Saturday morning.
The doctors said that through CAPD, remote patients can do dialysis at home by themselves. CAPD patients usually do not need to be hospitalised or come to a dialysis center.
It also saves patients from various complications caused by dialysis machines.
