A campaign meeting was held at Ishwardi upazila in Pabna to enrich the country's economy through production of toxic-free vegetables and to improve the lot and quality of life of farmers on Monday noon.
Ishwardi Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) organised the campaign meeting of the IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Model Union at Kamalpur village in Laxmikunda union of the upazila.
Deputy Director of Pabna Agriculture Extension Department Abdul Quader spoke as the chief guest at the time. Ishwardi Upazila Acting Chairman Abdus Salam Khan, UNO PM Imrul Kayes, Vice Chairman Atia Ferdous Kakoli and Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam spoke as special guests while, Welcoming remarks were made by Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdul Latif.
According to the Ishwardi Upazila Agriculture Office, Ishwardi was included in 10 upazilas across the country under the Safe Crop Production Project through eco-friendly strategies.
In Laxmakunda union of the upazila, 300 bighas of land has been allotted to farmers for production of safe pesticide free vegetables.
A total of 500 farmers in 25 groups of 20 are working for vegetable production under this project and Seasonal agriculture officers are training them.
