Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mainul Hasan has given instructions to stop driving unfit vehicles, standing in the middle of the road and getting on and off passengers and leaving cars randomly on the road.
He came up with the direction at a discussion meeting with bus owners to implement proper management and discipline in public transport' at the DMP headquarters on Saturday.
During the discussion, various directions has been given to the bus owners to maintain traffic order on the road.
The DMP Commissioner said that driving unfit vehicles on the road, standing in the middle of the road and getting off passengers and randomly parking vehicles on the road should be stopped.
Calling upon the bus owners, he said that the drivers and bus workers should be more aware and cautious in this regard. They need to be more monitored and held accountable.
If everyone works sincerely, we will be able to keep the traffic congestion in the metropolis at a tolerable level. Dhaka Metropolitan Police will always be by your side for any need.
The police chief also said, I took charge as the DMP commissioner in a special situation after the August 5 student uprising. Then there was a kind of disorganisation in roads and public transport.
In a very short time, we have improved from that situation and returned to normalcy. We are trying to maintain this status.
The meeting called for more cooperation from the bus owners and awareness meetings to increase the awareness of the bus workers.
