We all must pay heed to the President M Abdul Hamid’s order and boycott corrupts socially. Expressing his firm determination to curb corruption from the country at any cost, the head of the state on Thursday asked all concerned to socially boycott the corrupt people.

President M Abdul Hamid came up with this directive in a recorded speech at a discussion marking the “International Anti-Corruption Day 2021”, asking to start campaign against corruption from respective houses. In this regard, officials and employees of the ACC must show utmost neutrality and morality at all levels in order to ensure that the image of the entire anti-graft watchdog is not tarnished for some individuals’ controversial activities. Besides, the ACC officials will also have to gain people’s confidence through their positive activities. And the people who would abuse the state power should be brought to justice under the existing law.

The ACC officials will also have to

gain people’s confidence through

their positive activities

The seed of corruption was planted by governments that came to power illegally after August 1975 and since then corruption continued to engulf almost all sectors of the country. And it is still one of the major concerns in our country.

Though, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken zero-tolerance policy against corruption, many officials and employees are still indulging in corruption, irregularities and other illegal activities at different government offices and organisations.

We think if the common people start hating the corrupts and boycotting them socially and continue protesting against them, no one will be dare to get involved in such misdeeds in the future. And corrupts will be ousted in phases from the society once.

In this regard, when any news or information comes out about any corruption or unjust activities, the ACC and other authorities must go for immediate action.

Common people will also have to play a bold role in preventing corruption through stopping misuse of power and public money by a section of government servants and others. Simultaneously, authorities have to evaluate the honest, sincere and dedicated people socially as their recognition for good job would help reduce the corruption in the society. Therefore, we think whatever party a corrupt person belongs to, he or she must be brought under the law if any corruption is committed.
