Engineer KM Anwar Hossain is the new Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB). He joined the post on last Thursday, 9 January. Prior to joining the current post, he served as a member of the Joint River Commission. He also served as Additional Director (Eastern Region) and Chief Engineer (North-East Rigion) for BWDB.
He graduated BSc-in-Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1983 and graduated MSc-in-Water Resource Engineering from Asian University of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok in 1989. He joined the Bangladesh Water Development Board as Assistant Engineer on January 20, in 1984. During his long service life, he acted efficiently in BWDB’s planning department, design department, various field level offices and projects.
During his service in Bangladesh Water Development Board, he participated in various seminars and training at home and abroad, including France, Germany, Morocco, Australia, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. He was born in a Muslim family in the village of Sirajnagar (Nayachar) in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi district in 1961.
