Engineer AM Aminul Haque became the new Director General of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) on Thursday. Prior to joining the post of DG, he served as Additional Director General of (planning) of BWDB. He received a BSc in Civil Engineering from BUET in 1983 and an MSc in Hydraulic and Coastal Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) of Bangkok, Thailand in 1991.
He joined BWDB as Assistant Engineer in 1984 and successfully served in various departments of water science, design and field level of the board. He has also shown expertise in various projects on implementation of various important riverbanks conservation, irrigation, flood control and drainage, as the Chief Engineer of BWDB and Project Manager of FRERMIP project.
During his long tenure on the Water Development Board, he participated in various seminars and training programs in the UK, USA, Canada, Netherlands, Australia, Sri Lanka, China and Thailand. He was born in a respectable Muslim family in 1962 in Sirajganj district.
