Assistant Director of Chuadanga Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Moha: Sajal Ahmed conducted a drive at Alamdanga Bazar in Chuadanga on Sunday and fined a business establishment named Messrs Uttara Traders Tk 1,50,000 due to various irregularities.
The drive was conducted on Sunday afternoon.
Assistant Director Sajal Ahmed said warehouses, fertilizer dealers, rice, grocery stores and other shops of daily products in Alamdanga Bazar were monitored. Various irregularities were found in an establishment named Messrs Uttara Tarders at that time, including not showing gas price list, charging extra price, adulterating cattle feed husk packets of various companies, selling expired husk after drying them in the sun and repackaging them.
The manager of Messrs Uttara Tarders, Sree Sushil Kumar Bishwas, was fined Tk 1,50,000 under the Act 37, 40 and 45 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 for various offences including selling products without expiry date and price tag.
Vegetable markets, grocery stores, potato and onion warehouses and some other businesses were also monitored at that time. The traders were warned and everyone was instructed to sell products at a fair price, keep vouchers and display the price list. Moreover, awareness leaflets were also distributed.
Alamdanga Municipality Sanitary Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and a team of Alamdanga Police Station assisted during the drive. The drive will be continued for the public interest, Sajal Ahmed said.
