A Dhaka-bound passenger minibus lost control and fell into a ditch in Singair upazila of Manikganj on Thursday, killing three people including its driver and injuring 20 others.
The accident took place at Hemayetpur-Singair-Manikganj regional road in Rishipara Bakchar area.
The deceased were identified as bus driver Hridoy Hossain, 28, bus passenger Anwara Begum, 65, and pedestrian Nikhil Sarkar, 25.
Officer-in-charge of Singair police station Md. Rakibuzzaman said, a passenger minibus of Shukatara transport left Harirampur Upazila Sadar for Gabtoli bus terminal in Dhaka. When the bus reached Rishipara Bakchar area, the driver lost control and fell into a roadside ditch.
Three people, including the driver, died on the spot. Another 20 passengers were injured in the accident.
The injured were rescued and sent to different hospitals in the vicinity. The bodies of the deceased were recovered and sent to Manikganj District Hospital morgue, said Singair police station OC (investigation) Abul Kalam.
