The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken a massive programme to cultivate transplanted Aman farming in nine upazilas out of 13 upazils of Kishoreganj district in the current 2019-20 season (Kharif- 2).
Department of Agriculture Extension Office sources said, a total of 56343 hectares of land would be brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation this year with the production target of 97014 tonnes of paddy.
The upazila wise breakup of the land to be cultivated is: 5030 hectares of land in Hossainpur Upazila, 6100 in Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila, 3639 in Pakundia Upazila, 3420 hectares in Katiadi Upazila, 2310 in Karimganj Upazila, 20 in Tarail Upazila, 650 in Bajitpur Upazila, 381 in Kuliarchar Upazila and 950 in Bhairab Upazila.
Deputy Director of the DAE Kishoreganj Md. Matiur Rahman said, the field workers and crop specialists of the DAE have started rendering their field level services and exchanging views with the farmers to educate them about the modern method of Aman cultivation for achieving best yielding rate with minimum production cost.
