BUET students boycott classes, exams

Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) have announced a boycott of classes and exams, starting from Tuesday. This decision comes as a protest against the rehabilitation of individuals involved in student politics related to the Chhatra League on the campus.

The boycott began after two students, previously accused of supporting the Chhatra League, moved back into the dormitory on Monday night. This action sparked anger among the general student body, leading them to announce the boycott late at night.

The students are demanding an investigation into the accused individuals and have declared that they will not return to classes until the investigation report is submitted. They claim that the accused students had worked against the interests of the general student body, promoting the activities of Chhatra League on campus.

The students also expressed frustration over the negative impact that the accused have had on their education. They accused these individuals of labeling them with harmful tags and disrupting the academic environment.

In March of this year, students had previously boycotted classes and exams after an incident involving Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain’s late-night entry into the campus. That protest led to a stalemate for nearly one and a half months.

Now, the students are protesting against the rehabilitation of individuals who they believe were involved in creating unrest and violence on campus. They are demanding justice and punishment for those responsible. Until their demands are met, they have vowed to continue their boycott.
