The Bangladesh Film Censor Board has declared the film 'Makeup' is unfit for screening. Recently the Vice Chairman of the censor board Md Jasim Uddin has taken a decision and the film was stuck at censor board due to 15 dialogue scenes of the film.
At the end of January, director Ananya Mamun submitted the film 'Makeup' to the censor board for release in cinemas. After the submission, the members of the jury saw the film, took a joint decision and said that the film has presented the country's media in a very short way. Many people will look down on the people in the industry after watching the film. For that, they objected to that 15 dialogue scenes of the story.
The censor board then monitors the film and Vice Chairman of the Censor Board Md Jasim Uddin said, "We work according to the policy of the censor board and try to pass all the films by censor so that it get release on cinemas. The producer submitted the film 'Makeup' to the censors for the purpose of release. It seemed to the board that there were some issues contrary to the censorship policy. That is why we kept the picture under observation and decided not to release the film.”
The film story is about a superstar’s life where Tariq Anam Khan has played the role of a superstar. His name in the film is Shahbaz Khan. The film was shot in 2019 at several places in Sunamganj, Manikganj and Dhaka. The story of the film tells the story of the people behind the media and its presentation is ‘offensive’ in the language of the censor board.
However, director Ananya Mamun said the film was not offensive or downplaying anyone. Shown here is the life story of a superstar, which is not a real story. There is no chance to look at it differently. "I am not trying to show anything about the pros and cons here," he said. I myself am a director. AnanyaMamun said he has received a letter from the censor board. He is thinking again, he will add and subtract some scenes and submit the film to the censor again. He thinks that if the censor board bans the film in this way, young producers will not be encouraged to make films further. Instead, it is necessary to make pictures in the ideology of the censor board, most of which do not work. He is optimistic that he can submit his film again to the censor board.
Meanwhile, several members of the censor board were angry after seeing the film. According to them, the film shows some negative things about the film industry, which can lead to misconceptions about the industry.
